Running has never been my favorite sport, but it does get the heart pumping and the endorphins flowing, and mainly, it is the closest thing to dance that connects music and movement. I often find myself lost in a melody, spazz-run-dancing down a trail or sidewalk. Those are the best moments, the ones that make me feel silly and free, connected and human.
I did the Kaiser Half Marathon last week and needed a banging playlist. Truth: Jigga What may have just saved me during Mile 9 when I really needed to get my act together.
When making this playlist (which I knew I was going to share at some point), I thought to myself “What kind of interesting, eclectic music can I put on this to appear cutting-edge, emotionally deep and musically complex, but will also appeal to a diverse audience?”
Actually, I didn’t think that at all. I thought to myself, wow these songs are annoying, and boy do they get me kickin’ up my heels.
I have a penchant for high energy pop, pop-ish hip-hop and generally easy-to-get-stuck-in-your-head top 40 hits. When running, I have the musical taste of a 12 year-old. No shame.
